Soundmind,Have you ever had the chance to hear a pair of the Beveridge cylindrical line source speakers? They were a tall electrostat that focused the front wave through a unique wave guide which yielded a 180 degree horizontal dispersion, 6 foot tall vertical line source, crossover-less and good from approx. 40Hz to 18kHz. The rear wave was absorbed inside the cabinet to avoid cancellation issues. They were installed with their backs to the side walls facing each other across the room. Imaging and realistic ambiance were startlingly reproduced. Since listening to them I have become a real believer in the importance of uniform power response.
