Technical and scientific discussion of amps, cables and other topics.

Yo, Marvin..

jc: ""
When I want humor, I go over the 'Central' where my former partner, Bob Crump, used to hang out. Many of my friends and associates still go there. ""

Central's a fun place, I like it also.

jc: ""
I thought that this area: 'Propeller Head Plaza' was a technical info site, a place that we could debate different audio philosophies, both 'objective' and 'subjective' with candor, and without an artificial 'politeness' that sometimes inhibits active discussion.""

Well, it was setup to push anybody who does have a technical background out of cables. And, what "artificial politeness" are you talking about??? Here, on props?? Shirley, you jest.

jc: ""
What I have mostly found is a lack of basic understanding of audio quality, its history, or experience with real hi fi audio, among people who work in a different technical field than hi fi audio design, and insist on applying the guidelines that they normally use, to audio, without knowing or caring what really good audio quality is.""

Interesting. What I have found is a lack of basic understanding of material science, e/m field theory, cryogenics, localization theory, or experience with real scientific process, among people who work in "real hifi audio", and insist on applying the made up explanations they normally use to audio, without knowing or caring what real e/m theory or material science is..
jc: ""
At least, JJ, in his earlier years on this general website, used to give some technical info from his point of view. It is rare to find anyone of his caliber here, these days. ""

Agreed. And why should they? The "real hi fi audio" people chase them out.

Leaving an intellectual void, where made up explanations stand un-challenged.

You do, of course, realize that my previous post was from chapter 11, page 89 of the paperback..and you get all "philosopher" on me..sheesh..:-)

Cheers, John
