Re: RF / EM immunity

I don't possess much RFI knowledge, but I once worked for a company that did a lot of "Tempest" work. Some of you guys probably know all about it.

The idea was to shield and attenuate RF emitted by machines and computers such that the info couldn't be "read" by the enemy or anyone else. The computers we modified were VERY expensive when completed, several times more than stock PC's. Among many things it involved coating the insides of the monitor and keyboard housings with copper paint (and/or mu metal) and installing a fine, transparent copper screen over the picture tube. We also installed filter-networks right on the PCB's.

The end of the cold war really hurt the business, for obvious reasons.
