Well, actually, I do know what kind of filter but it's not particularly relevant.

As it appears y'all know, there are many (infinte?) kinds of filter one could build to have that described response.

In this case it was an elliptic, analog filter. .5dB, if I recall correctly, passband ripple, 96dB stop band rejection.

There, does that help? No, it doesn't.

And the idea that it all came from Nyquist wasn't right, neither, I dare say he just doubled the final stop band frequency.

In any case, it's not the highest frequency, since that stayed constant, and I said so, clearly, in the first post. How y'all came to that idea I don't really know.
