I don't know if downloading Realplayer will load adware or spyware on your computer. As an experiment, I ran yahoo anti spy and Lavasoft Ad-aware 5.62 removing some tracking cookies which was all that they detected. I then launched Realplayer10 and let it run for a while. I reran yahoo and Ad-aware and found that operating Realplayer didn't result in any adware, spyware, or tracking cookies being loaded onto my computer. I never get any popup ads running Realplayer either.
