Technical and scientific discussion of amps, cables and other topics.

well...

not much to add to my post or to the article per se, except either it works for you or it doesn't - just like any tweak or whatever. Either it makes a difference (that has value) or there is no difference. Not much more to it than that. Except for some, why it works and I really do not care to speculate on that issue as I am not so sure that 1) it really matters, and 2) they can offer an explanantion that is satisfactory to one and all.
With regards to 1 above, it it works (makes a difference that is of value) who cares why? The two who were off-axis listening casually, heard a difference 100% of the time, whereas the two listening critically were not so confident in the casual blind test I threw together. Yes, it was not rigorous and hardly statistically valid, but the results are interesting none the less. Am not so sure that if the chip's affects are a result of a placebo effct, I would have got the same results.
My reaction to the chip? Heard it, I think it makes a difference - slight though positive - but am not so sure that is is all that dramatic. That is, to me and a few others locally who have tried it, it makes about the same improvement to CDs as other tweaks (painting the edges, cleaners, etc.). All do something, but none by themself make one go HOLY SHIT, WOW! More like, "It sounds a little more like this and a little less like that" sort of thing.
Carol, who had better hearing than me and enjoys trying the Belt stuff, heard no difference at all.
Perhaps an issue of how we all want/value/precieve (hear) things differently?
