I have a small studio in the house. Currently, I'm using some Acoustic Energy Aegis 1's on my desktop to perform nonlinear editing tasks. I occasionally mix music with programs such as Sonic Foundry Acid Pro, SmartSound (future purchase), or eventually may use a Korg Triton keyboard/sampler for narration backdrops and such.I haven't a clue as to the sonic differences between home speakers and pro speakers. Should there be? I'm specifically talking about 2-way speakers.
I own some Norh speakers now which are absolutely terrific. I'm thinking of mating some Norh's up with a good amp. But then again, what is your opinion on it other than the fact that pro speakers are usually internally amped (which usually means optimized for the cross-overs and drivers used) and accept XLR inputs.
Most of my work is corporate and non-profit video at the moment. But as my system improves, so too should the audio side.
Any kind souls out there with some good feedback? Many thanks.
