Hey, I’ve experienced some serious ground hum with this unit. I’ve tried everything (ground lifting, replacing the power cord, hum/noise eliminators, plugging the unit in a dedicated circuit, and so on). Nothing seemed to be resolving this annoying problem. And to top things off, I recently blew 1 of the 2 giant capacitors (15000 MFD @ 100 VDC) and not only that the AC line MOV too.
On with my quest! I’ve shopped around and the only thing readily available off the shelves in my area is a 15000 MFD @ 50 VDC. I’m not even sure that these parts/items are still supported by Ashly.
Now a 50 VDC instead of a 100 VDC will most likely affect the performance of the unit (slew rate, damping factor, sine wave).
Nevertheless, considering what’s available, I’m planning an attempt to replace the gigantesque capacitor and will soon let you know how well it did or the thing is in the dumpster next Thursday. Wish me luck!
