Radiating surface

With a direct radiator the radiating surface is the cone; with a horn it is the mouth. As far as combing effect that has not as much to do with the distance between drivers than the distance the ear is from the line. Rule of thumb with horns is the same as with direct radiators- space them as tight as you can get them.
