20 bit audio, represents a dynamic range of 120db! There isn't a converter circuit where the analogue side of the sound can get close to that, so you are easily safe. Any mic you connect will have a higher noise floor, as will your desk. The average rock record has a dynamic range of less than 20db, so no problems there! What converter chips RME use, I'm not sure, but they sound good, and have a good reputation.Regards
