I guess the answer I am searching for, is to the question, why do most of the the new pop/rock/metal/country CDs I buy sound hard and lifeless? Somewhere, somehow there is something in the recording chain that is taking all the life (read fun) out of the recordings I buy. Let me know how you feel.
