I would run the double wires (maybe even just use 14 guage doubled) as a double run from the amp. Dont use a y cable, use the parallel outputs- this is a more robust connection. The reason for the double output is for reliability through redundancy. no matter how good your system is it will sound bad if the speaker connections fail.
