AFAIK, the JWWC mod involves removing the cascode and using the tube in that position as a plate load on the lower tube in the dual-diff amplifier. Then the output is taken off the cathode of the upper tube. This reduces output impedance quite a bit compared to the cascode and may eliminate or ameliorate the need for the driver tube, but it will also reduce gain as there is now no cascode. Didn't realize that this was the case with your amplifier. I always wondered how the JWWC mod would sound compared to the stock input circuit.
