Hello Doug and everyone! Thanks for the kind words! I agree with the comments on your field coil drivers. They were a revelation....the sad thing is now every one knows about it and there goes my chance in acquiring a pair ;o(
I wish I heard Herb's amp on the RCA horn system, I thought it had potential. I just felt the Voigt pipes with an array of 800 ohm elliptical drivers was too small for the space. Since I'm at a mono phase right now, I would have loved to hear the Cogent/Bill Woods horn system set up in a proper monaural environment with an LP/mono cartridge front end aside from CD. It looked so cool with a "mini Shearer" looking bass bin.
Admittedly I've never been a fan of BIG transmitting triodes mainly because anything over 500VDC scare me. I could not keep track of which transmitting triode amp belonged to whom but I heard some musical sounding ones this past weekend especially with the GM70 tube. Of course there was the 1937 RCA "in-house" PP845 driven by an SE300B "mini" amp that was voiced for the RCA horn system.
Last but not least is Thomas Schick's 12" tonearm, analog/LP spinners should check it out - http://www.thomas-schick.com/arm01.htm - I took one home....
This is my first triode/horn event after several years and had a great time meeting/chatting with all of you. According to Jonathan a new Oswalds Mill website will be up soon for everyone to see. Kudos to Jonathan and Cynthia for being such great hosts, thank you!
