Blanket statements about these two series of reissues don't hold up: there's just too much variation in sound quality across all the titles. Try the Paul Paray/Chabrier MLP for an example of how good that series can sound.But, on average, I, too, prefer the RCA Living Stereo series. I think their less "in-your-face" sound is more in line with a real concert experience.
I can't agree with you about the relative merits of the CD issues, however. It's quite possible that your machine is simply more adept at playing Redbook CDs than it is SACDs.
