...you should bear in mind that the CD layers for these two hybrid series were derived differently: For the RCA Living Stereo series, the CD layer is entirely new, being derived from the DSD remaster of the analog tapes. (The only difference between the stereo SACD and CD layers is the degree of 'resolution')The Mercury Living Presence team decided to use the earlier digital transfers by Wilma Cozart Fine as the CD layer on their hybrids. I can't say how the differences between the 'old' digital transfers and the new DSD remaster manifest themselves in the sound, since I haven't spent any time listening for it!
I know you were comparing the SACD layer to CD-only reissues, but I think you should also be aware of the above.
