Home Hi-Rez Highway

New high resolution SACD releases, players and technology.

gave you the wrong impression...

I am a classical person, play ~80% LP's; of those from my own personal collections and from a collection given to me by a friend who just returned from over 10 yrs overseas, they play almost perfectly with only occasional noise or surface clicks.

I started a collection for my family in the mid 60's. Those are about 80% clean, some originally with noise (esp. DGG and RCA, but Decca/London and Philips are silent for the most part). My own collection from the late 70's on during grad and professional school has over 85% clean surface LP's and sound great.

This year, I started to buy thrift and ebay. 70% are ok to almost perfect used, once cleaned, and I do the sink thing with DIY water and alcohol with detergent mix. No fancy machines or synthetic cleaning, not yet anyway. Most of my purchases are $1 or less now each LP.

The sound on good condition clean LP's is definitely superior except for some SACD's.
