OK so the Vaio thing is part of it...From Sony:
DSD audio in a new file format called 'DSF' (only data format change - not different content/quality). This is basically a .WAV file structure with a DSD data chunk, so playable in, say, Windows media player on a suitably equipped Vaio PC.
The new disk format, called a 'DSD Disk', is basically a DVD-R with DSD audio on it in the 'DSF' file format.
The new Vaio PCs can record and play back DSD directly. There's no lossless compression and no mention of multi-channel.
