Excellent post Sal and I've gone down a lot of avenues as you have. However it cannot be: "Too difficult to read one layer through the other?" as we would have trouble playing dual-layer DVD Movies.I am wondering if it could be the fact that the two media are different? Have different pit sizes: 0.83um for CD and 0.40 for SACD? And require different laser wavelengths: 780nm for CD and 650nm for SACD? Whereas a dual-layer DVD-Movie just has a different angle for the second layer.
Are we asking Hybrid SACDs to do too much? To where if something comes ever so slightly out of alignment the whole thing breaks down?
I don't have the answer yet.
Teresa
