No one would claim that one speaker position fits all rooms for stereo and the same goes for MCH. In my new house I started with an ITU model and gradually migrated towards 130 degrees for the rear speakers. In my old house I got a better soundstage and cleaner sound by having the rear speakers at about 150 degrees to each side. I understand that the music was mixed for specific speaker positions but room acoustics can have a much greater impact and it is clear from Micheal's letter MCH mixes are not all ITU. The only rule I can see is to keep the speakers equidistant from the listener. As Oscar has noted getting MCH dialed in is not a simple process. But once it's there you know it. The results are definately worth it.
