And Paul, I must correct you...

Yes, that stupid non-word, "irregardless" bothers me, too. Almost as much as somethong like the following:

"There simply is no such word as "irregardless" no matter how hard North American's want it to be. The word is simply "regardless."

The plural of North American is North Americans, an apostrophe connotes possession. As in:

"The North American's predilection for using nonsense words is quite disturbing." (And this assumes only one North American is doing it.)

It would be more accurate to write:
"The North Americans' predilection for using nonsense words is quite distrubing." That takes in all North Americans who utter such nonsense.

English class is hereby dismissed for the rest of the day!
