I'm hoping for those REM releases here; many of which I'm sure will be 48/24. I have no problem with 48/24, I fully recognize what a 24 bit depth can do.Nor do I think that 44.1/16 should not be included in the spec; I fully understand WHY it is included.
My point was, "just because the DVD-A light comes on, does not mean it's better" - or anything but redbook equivalency on a newer platform.
I suppose an argument could be made that DVD-A machines have better DACs, opamps and filters (usually) to allow more faithful reproduction of 44.1/16.
Also, there's a case for 44.1/16/5.1ch.
I was trying to point out the attitude of "If it's DVD-A, it's automatically a point for the Audiobahn crowd" - I think that's kind of nuts.
