If your mains supply is as bad as some claim (in the US), then this is surely one sensible solution.What isn't so good is the conversion from AC to DC, then to AC and (inside the audio kit) back to DC! Although modern power supplies are very good, there's something to be said for starting with DC (rechargeable batteries) of a voltage compatible with the electronics and be done with AC altogether! This admittedly means bypassing the units' power supplies, but it gets around all these conversions, keeps alternating current out of the system altogether and also probably mains-borne RFI.
For a while, I had a Class D power amp that was battery powered, but it was based on the old Tripath technology and I didn't find it matched my speakers. However I admired the battery element! Some high-cost equipment (Naim, Moon, etc) offer an optional separate power supply (without battery) that supplies their equipment with DC, so DC into audio kit is a proven benefit.
