Today I replaced my Linlai 6SN7 tube with my Schiit LISST. I'm really enjoying the sound this puts out. I had totally forgot I had these LISST, I bought them a few years ago and I put them away but with all the stuff I have been doing with other projects and work I had forgot about them.
They sound very good, not quite Solid State and but very close to Tubes. I could live with these and not miss the tube/s. They work well with the Hypex Nilai 500 diy monoblocks.
Since all the rave lately about measurements, I wonder how the Saga + measures with the LISST installed. I'm more about the how things sound 1st and measurements come 2nd.
Anyways, I just wanted to give a little feedback on how I like them in my system.
Follow Ups:
I had a Lyr 3 and bought a LISST just to experiment. Frankly could tell very little difference between it and the 6SN7 tube that came with the Lry. I ended up putting the tube back in as I liked the glow, but from an audio quality standpoint I could have easily used the LISST as a permanent replacement.
I never really looked into LISST in great detail. Are they solid-state 6SN7 replacements? Do you know what technology lives inside a LISST?

Hi Abe,
Yes, these are Solid State replacements. Here is what Schiit wrote.
"What's inside are two depletion-mode MOSFETs, together with minimal support circuitry to protect them against static, and to set the gain necessary for our products. There's no "triodization" or other tricks applied to make them act like tubes, or have curves like tubes. They're just good, linear, solid-state devices...-in a can."They sure do sound good. Like I said, I could easily live with these in my Saga +. But like everything else in this hobby, it's up to the individual's taste.
One thing that stands out is that there better definition on lows and you can really hear the difference on the bass drum. Bass is better as well.
I don't know you listen to your system level wise, but when I turn up the system it just gets better and nothing changes in sound (harshness or stress) as volume goes up. Also they need some time to break in to sound their best. :)

Thanks!
I should have looked into the LISST cans when I had my Freya+. I enjoyed the Freya+ but thought it could have had richer midrange and bass impact. The all solid-state Kara is my preference but I never heard the Freya+ with LISST.
I wonder if those LISST cans are designed for Schiit preamps only or if they can be used as replacements for 6SN7's in other brands.

I'm sure they will work in other preamps if tried but maybe reliability will come into play? If I had a different preamp that used 6SN7 I would give it a try and have some sort answer to that question. Maybe when I have some extra time I will build a very simple circuit using a single 6SN7 and see what happens just to get some sort of answer to that question. I will takes some VDC measurements on the Plate Pins 2 & 5 to see what Schiit's Plate VDC is for their tubes. The 6SN7 max Plate Vdc is 300Vdc, so that is a starting point.
as to how well they work in other brands and applications. Might run hot in some cases.
They don't recommend for any other gear, only the Schiit preamps.
... I think that has more to do with them just not wanting to be in the middle of any disputes involving other brands. It'd be easy to try a LISST and then point fingers at that tube if the gear had any problems after that. With their disclaimer they have an immediate fallback where they can say "we told you not to do that!"
