Re: Update on using 2 Hammond choke 193L !

A hard wire??? OK...first turn off the circuit so you don't zip yourself. Next remove the wall cover to the duplex outlet. Remove the duplex mounting screws. Remove the hot, neutral, and ground wire from the duplex outlet.

Now...lets remove the ac plug from the power cord. Once that is done lets now go ahead and hard wire. Take the power cord hot and the house hot and twist them together. Now take a twist on wire nut and twist the wire and nut together. Repeat for the neutral and earth ground...that's it...you are now hard wired.

If you like the results then I suggest you pick up a blank wood outlet cover. Drill a hole in the center of the cover and add a locking collet strain relief to match the diameter of the power cord. Keep in mind this will take your system up a few notches, but it is only designed to be an experiment so you have an understanding what pure a/c really sounds like and how outlets distort the sound quality via adding odd harmonics over the 60Hz sine wave. As I mentioned before, the choke brings you closer to a pure 60Hz line because it removes the added ringing brought on from the duplex...this is why I insist the choke effect is local rather than system wide.

Be careful...have fun...and please, whatever you do...try not to zip yourself :) If you need me just drop me an e-mail.

Alan
