The new outlets are much better construction-wise. My biggest gripe with the old ones was the goofy tiny ground screw that needed the use of a small copper spade. The FT-D20 has the best grip of any outlet I've tried- freakishly snug . Soundwise, I'll let other people comment. There are many great outlets out there and no receptacle will be perfect for everybody.
