Actually, you are listening to your power suppy. If you look at any schematic you will see that the input signal only goes as far as the first active component, usually a transistor. From that point you are listening to an analog of the input signal, and that analog comes from your POWER SUPPLY.However, you hit the X-Ring in the bulls eye on the subject of your AC. We might use the analogy of a Ferrari automobile. It's capable of smoking most other things on the road. However, with the Ferrari representing your power supply, if you run the Ferrari with cheap, low octane gas (the AC), don't change air and other filters regularly, etc. the ferrari will come in second to Beetle-Baum.
ANYTHING you can do the enhance the quality of your AC, which feeds your power supply, will improve the sonics of your system. The analogy of the chain is often used regarding your system and the largest, most important link in that chain is your AC. I am in the process of building a dedicated listening room. I have had a seperate 150 A dedicated line with 12 circuits to power the equipment so that the system will have a seperate line for each component in the system on the same phase. However, I look on that as merely the foundation. I will have treated EVERY connection, from the main service panel to the individual circuits with SilClear and am now searching for high grade high performance circuit breakers, which will be cryo'd. All of the aluminum buss bars will be replaced wirh cryo'd copper bars. Somewhere on the web I saw a source for 14 ga. OFC romex, but lost all my bookmarks when my hard drive crashed recently. NOTHING is too small an upgrade for your AC and its' delivery system.
Happy Powering !!
