I have used a similar unit for quite some time, and one of the most important reasons for the great sound is due to the internal battery IMO. These units basically have a big battery as a "buffer" in between the wall AC and your equipment, and this separates them from the non-battery-buffered AC regenerator units out there.

If you do some critical comparisons with the unit plugged into the wall vs. unplugged, the results may surprise you.
