Oversimplified:Essentially a tube output transformer is a necessity to couple the high output imedance of a tube anode ( ~~ current output) to the low(ish) impedance of the speakers. Impedance mismatches cause big loss of power.
Transistor amps have an effective zero output impedance (~~ voltage output) so do not need a transformer to couple into a speaker load.
