Without knowing what kind of pot it is, I cannot really say. The best thing to do would be to call ARC and order a new one. Potentiometer noise usually indicates wear as particles from the resistive tracks wipe off.
I remove such pots. and ultrasonically clean them. Then I lubricate it internally with 3M silicone spray, which is the best. I clean the pins afterwards to remove any silicone which may be on the pins to eliminate soldering difficulties.
You probably do not have an ultrasonic cleaner, so a good contact cleaner may suffice. Again the best way is to remove the pot. to clean it.
