I too use Tarn-X and find that it works fine. I prefer chemical cleaning to mechanical cleaning like wire brushes or sandpaper. It is good advice you gave to rinse well. I usually remove the Tarn-X by swishing the pins in some alcohol then blow drying with my wife's hair dryer on the "cool" setting.
