You can try scrubbing with a STIFF nylon toothbrush dipped in lemon juice. Lemon juice contains citric and ascorbic acids. Neither acid is strong enough to quickly attack metal, but oxides are attacked. Also, citrate is a good complexing agent, which helps the dissolving action, and ascorbate is vitamin C, which reduces ferric ions (rust) to the ferrous state.After the lemon juice scrub, rinse with water and wipe dry using a cloth moistened with anhydrous isopropanol. Additional treatment with either DeOxit or high temperature ProGold is OK.
