I am using 2 NOS RCA clear top 12AU7 tubes (along with 2 NOS Mullard 12AT7 tubes)in my VTL TL2.5 preamp. The sound by and large is very good with a slight elevation of sound in the upper midrange (especially muted jazz trumpets). The 12AU7 tubes are very microphonic which may be causing ringing. What might be some good replacement preamplifier 12AU7 tubes to try in place of these RCA clear tops?
