Let me add a bit to Ray's excellent post...ALL tubes are microphonic! It's a matter of degree - just because you tap a tube and it makes noise doesn't mean the tube is bad. If a tube is quiet in normal operation it really doesn't matter if it makes a noise when tapped. But (as Ray says) if airborne vibration from the speakers or similar input excite the microphonics to the point where they are audible then either the tube has to be damped or isolated from the vibration or a tube with a lower sensitivity toward excess microphonics needs to be used.
