Microphonic tube question

I have a microphonic 6SN7 tube in my preamp (I need to order a replacement), but I've noticed that if I leave my preamp completely off and the rest of the system on, I can still hear music through the channel that has the microphonic tube.

So...my question is...what exactly is a "microphonic" tube? Is it extremely sensitive to signals? Can it function even if there is no heater current?
