An NOS Tesla would be closer to a Mullard, but not the JJ. The quality just isn't there anymore. IMHO, the original SED, now winged C (not the New Sensor wannabe SED) has been the best new production EL34 for a while.....until the GT EL34M came out. Trust me, I'm not a big fan of Aspen or GT, but I have to be fair and objective when I test a tube, and these are the best EL34 right now in terms of tone.....if you want a Mullard clone. The jury is still out in terms of how many hours they'll last.
