I love your description of the EAT KT88 sound, a mix of an EL34 (midrange glory) and the Tungsol (fast tight bass). Very good description. Thank you for all of the comments as well. I don't believe the EAT is overdriven in the Avatar Super after speaking to VAC several times about it. Scott Markwell used them in his Avatar. Jozefina has not found a dealer in the US yet. Not sure she will be able to unless the reliability improves. My warranty on my EAT is now useless, even after having tried to deal directly with Jozefina. I agree with the comment about reviewers not knowing about reliability. That's why I like to read the audio rags that have followups on products. That is, sometimes, invaluable information. Great suggestion on banding together and commisioning runs of tubes of higher quality and manufacturing for audiophiles. We audiophiles should be willing to pay more for a higher quality contructed tube. Considering what we spend on components, we should not skimp on the "heart" of the preamp or amp.
