EAT KT88 Tubes

I just wanted to pass on some info on these tubes. I have had numerous problems with matched quads of the EAT kt88s in my Avatar Super. The warranty proved useless since the dealer has chosen to abandon distributing this tube. He supported me well as long as he could with remaining stock, but alas, could not keep up with me with my defective rate on these tubes. This concerned me of course since my investment in dollars was substantial. Without a dealer, I contacted Jozefina, the owner of EAT, and had some success early on. She sent me tubes (for a fee), to replace defective ones, but that soon proved to be too much for her (and me), as the tubes did not last. Communication, too, was difficult considering the language barrier. I can now see what the dealer was referring to when discussing his decision to not carry the product line, despite his very diplomatic way of saying it. The tubes are not reliable and are not worth the time at any price. Too bad, since the reviewers are correct in saying it's the best sounding KT 88. They certaintly sang in my amps (push pull and SET). I just wonder if the reviewers really know how problematic these tubes are? And now there is no dealer in the US. I was wondering if any one else has had similar problems? Of course all my other KT88s (and 6550) in my VAC amp have been extremely reliable. I now use the Tungsol 6550 copies and they are very close to the EAT (and they are a bargain compared to what I paid for the EATs). By the way, the EAT Dampers are fabulous (and no reliability problems)!
