Dave, I have some Allegros that were bought from 15-16 years ago from Allegro and they do not have gold-plated pins.They are nice tubes and worked great in a Van Alstine Super PAS4i, but at the time were only compared to the stock tubes and some Golden Dragons.
In my Hovland HP100 they sound a little soft at the extremes and have not been able to displace Amperex longplates, ribbed Teles and boxplate Mullards.
Nice mids though, glad they're working for you.
