I shared what I posted here with Rick at Allegro. He corrected me saying that since 1978 he has had two returns on the 12ax7s. Both were by people who saw the tubes, were offended by the rebranding, and returned them un-auditioned. No one who has heard them, he says, has ever returned them.Interestingly, he didn't dispute what I'd said about the same tubes being sold earlier by Gold Aero. It looks like they were manufactured by one company (Matsushita? Tesla?), rebranded and sold by Gold Aero, and then rebranded again by Rick at Allegro.
