Thats a long story on that but they were esentially tied to hip of mullard becuase they were helping with design of the amps and supplying them with tubes very cheap and part of the deal was they would use their tube exclusively in the hf50s and the hf60.
There is more to it but thats the gist of it..Its easy to see tho because you know your not going to get 60 watts out of a pair of el34s.Eico was circulating a pamplet on the upgrade to Kt88s but I havent located that info so I figured out on my own what changes it needed.
