Did you see if it happens with any brand of tubes and is it in both amps or just one amp? It sounds like a problem in the B+ and what I would do at this point if the amp is out of warranty and thats monitor the B+ on the plate of the Kt88 tubes..Also do this when you power the amp down becuase what could be happening is the B+ may be going real high when you shut the amp off from the storage in the capacitors and if thats the case that will arc the tubes eventually causing them to fail.Now if thats the case a regulator trasnsistor or associated componet or even a bleeder resistor can open up causing this problem.
