Good to hear from another Romulus owner! Do you find your Minimax pre to be a definite step up from the Romulus integrated pre? I'm thinking that a tube preamp with a well-regarded inbuilt phono stage might be the thing to try, just wondering about how the inbuilt stages that were very highly regarded in their day (eg Audio Research, Conrad Johnson, etc) would stack up against current phono stages? I don't need the facility for low-output MC. My only experience with a separate pre/Romulus power combo is with a Musical Fidelity X-P100, but I much prefer using the Romulus as an integrated, so now just use the MF as a phono stage. BTW, in my system (vinyl based, with Spendor BC1 'speakers), I really like Brimar 12AU7s in the Romulus.Be interested to hear your comments on the improvements brought about by your Minimax vrs using the Romulus as an integrated.
