I am looking for a phono stage to go with my CR Development Romulus tube integrated, and I'm torn between a few possibilities! One obvious idea is the EAR834P, but I was wondering how something like that would compare with the phono stage of a s/h pre such as an Audio Research SP6/8/10 etc, which I could probably pick up for about the same as a new EAR834? Of course, I would then have a full pre-amp, which might well be better than the pre section of the Romulus. My main question though concerns the phono stages. Any comments concerning new phono stage vrs second-hand phono-equiped pre would be welcomed! (I would prefer to stay with tubes if possible.) Thanks.
