The 5751 really is a much lower gain tube (30%?), so it won't work in any high-gain 12AX7 spots, like phono stages. But in a circuit designed for it (like in my Alan Kimmel-designed amp) the 5751 sounds much better than 12AX7's... IMHO. Cleaner, less bloated, more extended, better controlled bass.But in my old Eico HF81 or my old Mac C20 preamp, there isn't a 5751 that I've found that improves on Amperex or Telefunken 12AX7's.
So I agree with you, but I also disagree with you depending on the circuit!
