For the $'s you are putting on the line, a Sonic Frontiers SFCD-1SE would be hard to beat,
of course this is an HDCDP with no DVD-A or SACD (which is another debate).
If you don't mind getting a used piece, AGon has them show-up from time to time.
I've become fond of the Telefunken 6DJ8s after trying most all of the other available bottles.I've been down the Denon path (and it is easy to follow) but the smoothness of the SE with the improved clock combined with a tube buffer, makes for some smooth listening.
