I don't know what is meant by "dark," but I generally agree with your assessment of the Roundplates. This is one of my favorite 6sn7 -- detailed, but not harmonically lean or thin in the midbass (one of the ways detail is faked). I have some French Neotron Roundplates that look like knock-offs of the TungSol tubes. They are, to me, just as good as the Tungsols.For a tube that is not as lean as the EH, and that is certainly smooth and rich sounding, I would also nominate the 5692. I much prefer the roundplates, but I think it does fit the poster's bill.
