I was using the FM tuner when it started acting up today. However, switching the input with the selector on the front panel had no effect on the static in the right channel. And, turning the speaker switch to "off" did not stop it either...had to power down the entire unit.
Of course, as I am writing this, the receiver is playing flawlessly again. Guess it can't be too serious, then...I assume that a shorted OPT x-former would not be intermittent.
"thought 2) If I were you, I'd pull and reseat EVERY tube. Clean the pins (e.g., with DeOxit and a Q-tip) and re-seat. Be sure that, at least the tuner section tubes go back in the exact same sockets (the alignment may suffer if you swap two identical tube types in the tuned circuits) Try 'er again."
Which tubes would are these likely to be - the tuner tubes that is? Sorry, I don't have an owner's manual or schematic.
