Tubes Asylum Questions about tubes and gear that glows. FAQ |
|
I am having some issues with my "new" Fisher 400 today.I posted a few days ago that I had intermittent crackling/popping from the left channel...actually, it is the right channel (typo). This came and went and eventually stopped altogether. I had the amp playing for over 8 hours continuously yesterday, and it sounded perfect all day long. Beautiful, beautiful sound. But today, after playing for five minutes, the sound in the right channel cuts out completely and I get an earful of static. There is also a slight amount of distortion and a decrease in volume of the left channel whne this happens. Playing with the tone controls and volume control does not abate the problem, nor does changing inputs or even turning the speakers OFF with the switch on the front panel. Output tubes run warm, but not red, and the OPT transformers are cool to the touch even after 8 hours of use.
Would GREATLY appreciate any and all ideas that you guys may have on this. If you are in my area and can solve the problem, I will happily buy you as many rounds as you can handle. :-)
Thanks,
Burke
