In my amps the Chinese EL34-A's (labelled Golden Dragon) have had the nicest top end of any EL34 I've used in them. I even prefer them over the latest EL34-B's which they say are "improved". I found a source that still has them (labelled Valve Art) and I'm eagerly anticipating their arrival (4 quads, figured I'd stock up). Hopefully they will be as good as the Dragons.I'm probably in the minority with the opinion that the Chinese EL-34's generally have a better top end with more extention than the Russian EL-34's. With that being said, if I didn't have enough top end on a EL-34 amp with Chinese tubes I'd make sure they were good, strong tubes. If they are okay I'd be looking somewhere else for more top end.
